Sugarmill Woods a Florida Greenbelt Community

Sugarmill Woods is a unique Florida community, located in Citrus County on the “Nature Coast”.
Our 4700 homes offer a wide variety of architectural styles: traditional, modern, comfortable. New buyers agree: our homes offer the best value to be found in all of Florida. Each home is surrounded by a Greenbelt. If you don’t find the house of your dreams, there is a home site awaiting for your creation or if you prefer maintenance free living, you can choose a villa or condominium.

Located conveniently between Gainesville and Tampa, due west of Orlando, Sugarmill Woods homes offer a beautiful, quiet lifestyle.

Come see a Florida you didn’t know exists!

What is the Greenbelt?

Sugarmill Woods was originally a cattle farm – hundreds of acres of pasture land. The developers decided the land needed trees. To create the woods that became Sugarmill, 1.2 million pine saplings were planted. With the guidance of a Florida naturalist, one third of the property was set aside, preserved as wildlife strips – or Greenbelt. The 5300 acres of Sugarmill Woods has 1700 acres that remain untouched – a piece of nature for every home site. It was a development breakthrough in Florida and in the United States, studied by urban planners. It is land occupied by our residents and shared with the flora and fauna native to the area.

No Florida development offers a feature quite like our Greenbelt.
