Established in 1957, Citrus Memorial Health System is a 198-bed, private community hospital providing health care services to the residents of Citrus County and the surrounding area. With over 150 physicians and 1,000 employees, Citrus Memorial Health Systems provides a wide range of services at the Inverness location and at eight other medical offices and clinics located in Citrus County and in nearby Sumter County.
Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center
Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center is a 128-bed general, medical/surgical hospital that opened its doors in 1978 and serves the communities of Citrus, Levy and South Marion Counties. Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center offers a wide range of healthcare services.
Oak Hill Hospital
Oak Hill Hospital opened on June 6, 1984 with 96 beds and has grown to be one of the largest hospitals in the area with 262 acute care beds. Oak Hill is also one of the area’s largest private employers with more than 1,100 associates. Celebrated 30 years of service in 2014 and is known for its quality of care, focus on patient safety and commitment to the most advanced technologies.
VA -- North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System
In addition to the medical centers in Gainesville and Lake City, the VA offers services in three satellite outpatient clinics and several community-based outpatient clinics across North Florida and South Georgia.
Veterans living in Sugarmill Woods have a wonderful facility available for VA services. The Lecanto Community Based Outpatient Clinic is 15 minutes from Sugarmill Woods.

The Citrus County Library System is considered outstanding for its size. It has five branches, which offer an array of programs for children and adults, ranging from computer classes to adult literacy and citizenship classes. Clubs & Organizations
There are many Clubs within Sugarmill Woods to cultivate a community spirit of help and giving, Women of Sugarmill Woods, Oak Village Women’s Club, Rotary Club of Sugarmill Woods, Sugarmill Woods Crime Watch, and Sugarmill Woods Emergency Response Team.
Of course, throughout Citrus County, there are many non-profit fraternal and community-based Clubs and organizations. The Citrus Newcomers Organization is a club that is strictly social, with leadership provided by volunteer members.
The Sugarmill Woods Civic Association
This volunteer organization monitors our relationships with county government, the utilities that service Sugarmill Woods and other civic issues as necessary. Frequent Community Outreach Programs initiated by the Civic Association feature many speakers of interest. Its annual community telephone directory is free, delivered to every residence. The directory is a treasure of information about Sugarmill Woods, its residents and Citrus County.
